Pam Keck

Youth Education Manager

I retired at the tender 'young' age of 56 and knew before I retired that I would be active in something. I wasn't sure what or how but I wanted to do something where I could share my career and life experiences. Education has always been important to me and resultantly opened many doors. Even bigger than education is my desire to serve God. When I learned that LOVEtheLOU was all about serving in sacrificial love, I knew I was in the right place. I started out volunteering in the garden in 2017 and that fall started tutoring at the 'homework hangouts' on Thursday evenings. These experiences, and many others, have allowed me to get to know and love many of the students. Most of them have not experienced life the way I did, nor my own children, but they are full of potential, drive, passion and the desire to develop a thriving life. I try to share with them the tools needed to be persistently consistent for an independent mindset.

Mother Teresa said, 'we cannot all do great things but we can all do small things with great love' and Dr. MLK inspires me to work towards a world where we will not be judged based on our skin tone but on our character. It is an honor and a privilege to be in the presence of the students from N. St. Louis and a member of the LOVEtheLOU team doing small things with great love.
